If you only have room in your rack for a 1U amp (sound familiar?), you can't beat the SLA-2. 200W/channel at 8 Ohms (280W/channel at 4 Ohms) of loud, neutral sound in a tiny package that keeps itself cool and quiet. This amp and a pair of hi-fi quality speakers is all you need to take the sound in your headphones to the level needed on the stage!

The SLA-2 is perfect for pro, project and home studios, and is a perfect compliment to the ART SLM-1 Studio Linear Monitors.  The channel level controls are indented, and can be recessed to prevent accidental movement.  The entire front panel can be enclosed behind a protective cover for applications where the amp is available to the general public.

For smaller jobs, the SLA1 provides 100W/channel (130W/channel at 4 Ohms) in the same 1U form factor with less weight. It also fits in shallower rack cases.

Tube Preamps are a necessity for bridging the gap between the analog and digital worlds, especially when recording. Digital recording is very unforgiving of overloads, and a tube stage adds both warmth and a safety factor. ART's popular Tube MP has spawned an entire copycat industry!  It features a 12AX7 tube selected for low-power operation, and even provides phantom power for condenser mics.  While this little "black box" can't outperform higher-end preamps like the Speakeasy Tube Preamp, its bang-for-the-buck appeal is overwhelming.  This is one tool that should be in every recording musician's bag!

[Note from BW: I still use a pair of Dual MP's -- essentially, two Tube MP's in a single rack mount -- in my stage rig, to warm the sound of my digital sample playback synths, and as a preamp for my Fender Telecaster.  I've been using the synth side of the system for over four years.]

Combining a tube preamp with a digital audio interface is a natural "next step."  ART took their popular Tube MP Project Series preamp, and added a USB audio interface.  This model features a built-in limiter with disable, a high-pass filter, selectable low or high impedance to match the needs of mics and line level devices, and a stackable case design.  It's also a "second generation" MP preamp, with improved performance.

The Tube MP Project Series with USB installs into Windows (98SE, 2000, XP, Vista) and Mac OS (9.1, 10.x) systems without the need for added drivers; the OS already has native support.

The original Tube MP Project Series (without USB) is also available.  It has all the features of its USB brother ... well, except for the USB.

Beyond four channels, USB audio becomes impractical for bandwidth and driver overhead reasons. The answer is the TubeFire 8:  eight second-generation class A MP preamps in a 1U rack case, complete with balanced I/O and a FireWire (IEEE-1394) interface.  Ideal for recording applications, the TubeFire 8 adds eight warm tube-driven mic or line inputs to any FireWire equipped PC- or Mac-based direct-to-drive recording system.  ART's mic preamps provide clean quiet gain with great transparency.  The eight balanced outputs of the TubeFire 8 can be driven from either the analog mic preamp inputs making the TubeFire 8 an in-line eight channel tube preamp, or from the internal high quality D/A converters making it a high quality multi-channel audio output for your computer.  Every input channel on the TubeFire 8 offers both XLR and 1/4-inch TRS balanced inputs with 70dB of gain. "All inputs have -10dB Pad, High Pass filter, Phase Invert clip indicators, and a wide range LED meter to monitor the preamp levels.  The eight balanced outputs can be summed to an integrated headphone output providing either a mono or stereo mix function for low latency input monitoring and for monitoring audio playback from the computer.  The TubeFire 8 ships with Cubase LE sequencing software for the Mac and PC.

This is the simplest way to add tube front ends and a multitrack digital audio interface to your digital recording station -- and all in one rack space!
