EVENT PROCESSOR PLUS -- MIDI
Solutions' latest "Swiss Army knife" product! This box can take almost any MIDI events and
convert them to other MIDI events -- up to 32 of them, depending on the changes. Change button presses
to MIDI SysEx, program changes to NRPN, transpose part of your keyboard, and many other items that fall
outside the traditional uses of a mapping device. Use the Event Processor to slave one MIDI keyboard
or module to another, even if the two manufacturers use different methods to send/receive MIDI
information! |
The MIDI Solutions Event Processor Plus has advanced capabilities that make it much more than a basic
MIDI processor: 1) A setting can turn other settings on and off, changing the way the Event Processor
Plus works with the press of a button or push of a pedal; 2) A setting can trigger a series of MIDI
events, and several events can be arranged in a loop, to support complicated tasks like starting and
stopping songs; and 3) It can save eight (8) data elements as variables, to allow changes in operation
based on earlier MIDI events, or prevent repeating the sending of a command. No matter what changes
you make in your gear over the years, this box will remain in your arsenal!
Oh, and it fixes just about every incompatability between the Hammond-Suzuki XK-2 and XK-3 and other
Hammond clones!
Are there any downsides? Well, programming this device can be a bit trickier than the other boxes,
because of the tremendous flexibility. If you're a MIDI novice, or if our real-world examples send your head spinning, you might want to describe what
you're looking for, and have us program it.
Are there alternatives to the MIDI Solutions Event Processor Plus? Yes, but none of them can match the
Event Processor Plus' size, cost, and line-powered advantages. (Don't underestimate the line power
aspect. How many times have you forgotten -- or broken -- an AC adapter?) Item-for-item,
dollar-for-dollar, the Event Processor Plus wins hands down!
If you have more than two pieces of MIDI gear, you NEED this box! (It helps even if you only
have two MIDI devices.) Most musicians put up with all sorts of little annoying issues in their MIDI
gear, because "that's they way it works." It doesn't have to be that way. I use an
Event Processor Plus in my personal rig, and it eliminates all kinds of things that get in the way of my
performance. Details can be found in my second programming
example. -BW

|
EVENT PROCESSOR -- Does the Event Processor
Plus seem like too much of a good thing? This version has all the features of the 'Plus,' but with 10
locations for settings, and only 2 variables. It still provides the flexibility to work beyond the
limitations of your gear! |
 |
|
QUADRA MERGE -- The perfect solution if you
just want to send the output of your keyboards, and maybe a PC or sequencer, to one device. The Quadra
Merge accepts up to four inputs, and uses fast merging algorithms to prevent the loss of data. All
MIDI data types are merged, including SysEx and MIDI Time Code. And no programming is necessary, ever!
If four inputs is too many, the MERGER may be just what you need. |
 |
|
ROUTER -- This "Swiss Army knife"
of MIDI boxes can take any MIDI event and send it to one or both of its outputs -- or eliminate it
entirely. It can change the channel of the event, and duplicate events on a second channel. What
can you do with it? You can add zones to a single-channel master keyboard. Or use your
volume pedal with two different synths at the same time, on two separate MIDI channels! Or prevent
aftertouch from reaching a module that doesn't handle it well. The list goes on and on ... |
 |
|
RELAY -- If you need to switch some
non-MIDI gear, the Relay provides a set of contacts that can be turned on and off using one or more MIDI
continuous controllers (CC's), SysEx strings, patch changes, key numbers, or some combination of them.
The contacts are completely isolated, so it doesn't matter how your external device is wired.
Perfect for MIDI support of a Motion Sound or Leslie speaker (1), or for channel switching
on a guitar amp, without a foot pedal. The Relay can also be ordered pre-programmed to adapt your
Hammond-Suzuki, Nord, Korg, Oberheim, Roland, or Voce organ to your standard Leslie, Motion Sound, or
simulator foot pedal input, so it's ready to run when you get it. |
 |
|
PEDAL CONTROLLER -- Adds a continuous controller
input to a keyboard that doesn't have one, like many digital pianos, or the Voce V5. The response
curve (taper) of the pedal can be adjusted to give a more even response, and the device works with both
Roland and Yamaha plug configurations, figuring out which one you're using at power-up! |
 |
|
FOOTSWITCH CONTROLLER -- Adds a sustain-pedal or
on/off style input to a keyboard that doesn't have one (or needs another one), to provide MIDI control of
external devices like rack effects units. The response can be programmed to either momentary action
-- the change only happens while the pedal is held down, like a piano sustain pedal -- or toggle action --
push once for on, push again for off. |
Real-world examples using many of
these boxes can be found here.

DEALS ON PROGRAMMING
For the Event Processor, Router, Relay, etc.: If you decide that you don't
want to (or can't) program it yourself, MIDI Solutions will program it for $20 more -- if you buy it from
them -- but we'll do them one better: Buy the Two Plus option, and we'll program it for two
years(2) for $5 more! "If you change your setup in a few months, just let us know what you need
to fix, and we'll make the changes and email you a new SysEx file, or you can bring the box back to Ashby
Solutions for the update. Or, if you think you'll only program it once, we'll do it for $15. And
by "once," we mean one program that works. If it doesn't do what you thought it
would, we'll correct it for free.
For the Event Processor Plus -- which can get pretty complex -- the programming charge is a little
more: $25 for one-time, and $40 for two years.
Here are examples of past programming tasks:
- Voce MIDI Drawbar Module (or V5) used as drawbars for
a Nord Electro (Mapper and Event Processor/Plus)
- Complete control of a Nord Electro using the MIDI
Drawbar Module (Event Processor Plus)
- Hammond-Suzuki XB-3 driving a Voce V5 (Event
Processor/Plus)
- Hammond-Suzuki XB-3 driving a Nord Electro (Event
Processor/Plus)
- Hammond-Suzuki XC-3 driving the Native Instruments B4 in
a Muse Receptor (Event Processor Plus)
|
|
- Using the Korg CX-3 to control a Motion Sound Pro-3T
(Relay)
- Adding zones to a piano master keyboard (Router
and Event Processor/Plus)
- Breath Controller used as volume or aftertouch
(Mapper and Event Processor/Plus)
- Controlling variations on a Nord Modular G2 with an ART
X11 foot controller (Event Processor/Plus)
- "Borrowing"an expression pedal (Router and
Event Processor/Plus)

The Relay contacts are fused at 0.5A.
It can control your existing motor speed interface by replacing the switch or foot pedal currently
used; it will not directly switch your Leslie/Motion Sound motors. In addition, use with some
Leslie interfaces may require adding noise-reduction components to the system. Contact Ashby Solutions
for more details. |

2-year programming on the Two Plus option applies to
the original owner listed with Ashby Solutions; it is not transferrable. |
