This is a way-cool product! Lots of players would like to bring VST instruments and
effects to the gig, or to a jam on Friday night. But computers are more trouble than they're worth in
those situations: they have fragile hard drives, they're filled with programs that can interfere with
live audio, and they practically scream, "Steal Me!" to thieves. There are alternatives (ex:
the Muse Receptor™), but most of them are bigger, complicated, and cost way more. What if you just want
some brass to add to songs, or play a simple piano-strings split?
Enter the V-Machine, a compact dedicated VST player that won't break the bank! It
plays up to four instruments, each with its own effects and post-processing. Plus, it has effects loops
and global processing sockets, too. It can even power a USB keyboard. And all of this in a box not
much larger than a good paperback novel! | ![]() |

FEATURES
The 'player' side of the V-Machine is the essense of simplicity. It has a bright,
easy-to-read 4-line display on the left; and four pairs of Up/Down (technically, Left/Right) buttons on the
right. The buttons are 'soft' -- i.e., their functions change as needed to support different tasks.
Pressing both buttons in any row provides quick access to special features like the global menu and the
MIDI Panic Button.
Because the menu is so simple, often-used functions like patch and volume changes are better accessed through
MIDI commands. The V-Machine features a 'learn' mode to program these features: just press Learn
and then move a knob or switch on your MIDI controller, and the box remembers the link.

The 'business' side of the V-Machine has lots of ins and outs to support
whatever gear you already have. USB in and out allows connection to both a PC or Mac for programming,
and two Flash drives or MIDI keyboards. (If your computer can self-power your MIDI keyboard, then the
V-Machine can, too.) A MIDI In jack provides connection to other keyboard gear. Dedicated
1/4" Left and Right audio outs are provided, along with 1/8" jacks for audio in and headphone out.

To program sounds, V-Machine includes the VFX™ programming environment, a
virtual, on-screen copy of the V-Machine's display and soft buttons, plus access to the internal VST mixer
and your VSTs. Connect a high-quality sound card, USB sound module, or a pair of headphones, and you
can audition and edit sounds for the V-machine, knowing that everything is 'WYHIWYG' (What You
Hear Is What You Get).
You can program tons of banks and presets this way -- far more than the V-Machine can actually store in its
1GB internal Flash drive -- then choose the ones to download to the box. Banks can be used to save sets
for performance, or arrange by sound type (pianos, strings, etc.). There isn't any limit to the number
of samples that can be stored, either -- if your computer has space for your sounds, VFX can access them!
V-Machine comes with a selection of VST sound and processing software,
including IK Multimedia's SampleTank 2 SE sample playback application (a limited version of SampleTank L/XL). You can be up and running in minutes! NOTE: The version
shipped with the V-Machine is SampleTank 2.1SE, but registering your copy entitles you to a free upgrade to
SampleTank 2.5. We highly recommend this upgrade, because 2.5SE is far more than just a bug-fix release;
it adds highly useful functions to the program.

WA-I-I-I-T A MINUTE ... I HAVE TO PROGRAM THIS
THING?
Some of our customers have the knowledge and the time to program
computer-based music software. But what about the rest of the world? That's where buying your
V-Machine from Ashby Solutions gives you a leg up. We've created pre-configured versions of SampleTank
with vintage keyboard and other most-requested sounds. We'll pre-program the box, upgrade the firmware
and VST applications, even register the applications for you. When the V-Machine arrives,
it's ready to play!
We offer two pre-configured models:
The patches will be loaded organized two ways: 1) individual banks by category (pianos, strings, brass,
etc.) for situations where you want to use the soft buttons on the V-Machine as the primary way to navigate
around between sounds; and 2) as one large bank for selection through a the Program buttons on a MIDI keyboard.
